What is the difference between an American manicure and a French manicure?

With the French manicure, the end of the nail is painted white and the rest of the nail is natural. An American manicure is similar, but the white is softer and the rest of the nail is clear pink.What is the difference between an American manicure and a French manicure?

the American manicure is supposed to make your nails look like they are natural and healthy, and the french manicure is more noticeable that you went and got your nails done(they have a very white tip as opposed to the American that has a natural nail color to it).
