How do you get a perfect home manicure?

Since the holiday season has me uber busy going out to get my nails done is unlikely . I've decided to do them myself this time, so what are the steps used to get a perfect home manicure? What products should be used, or is there anything I need to know? Thanks! =]How do you get a perfect home manicure?
Critical ingredients are: Time, The Proper Tools, and Patience. Start with bare unpainted nails.

1. Soak nails for five minutes in warm soapy water

2. Clean nails with nailbrush

3. Rinse and dry

4. Lotion as needed

5. Gently push back cuticles with an orange stick

6. Remove any dead skin (use pumice stone) or hangnails (nail clipper)

7. File and/trim/shape nails as needed. File only in one direction, do not saw back and forth (will cause nail splitting/peeling)

8. Wipe clean with dry towel

9. Paint slowly and carefully

10. Clean up any stray paint with qtip dipped in nail polish remover

11. Let dry and voila!

Extra tips: If you need a second coat, wait 20 minutes after applying the first coat. Immersing nails in cold water can speed drying. Really the most important thing is to be sanitary and take your time and be careful. How do you get a perfect home manicure?
If you do not normally do your own nails, then take my advice and take the time to just go and get them done!!!
Sally henson ( i think is how you spell it) you can find it at Target Walgreens Walmart anywhere and it comes with the strips to make your lines perfect and when you are polishing polish away from the line and don't take the Strip off until your nails are all the way done drying. works really good on toes too. just make sure you get the right color pink cause it comes in like 3 or 4 different color pinks.
If you Google the topic, there are tons of articles that give you a step-by-step process.

I never heed any of those though because they are too time-consuming. I just buy a bottle of really good nail polish, like Chanel, and one of those three- or four-sided nail buffers that make your nails ultra-shiny, like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Nail-Glos鈥?/a> You use the roughest side to slough off any ridges on the nail, then the second side to smooth out the texture, then the final one or two sides are used to bring the nail to a high-gloss finish. Then you apply one or two coats of nail polish, making sure you give each layer enough time to finish drying before applying the next one. Voila - nails look shiny and beautiful. You can apply some Vaseline or cuticle cream to cuticles to smooth them out.
If you like a natural look, like I do, soak your nails in denture cleaning tablets, and they will be bright white! You can go to the dollar store and get a box for a buck! put 2 or 3 tablets in a bowl of water, plop in a hand, and let it soak till the bubbling stops! It's that easy. I then like to push back my cuticles, file gently, and use lotion. If your hands are really dry, use a home scrub of salt and olive oil, then liquid soap -all before you add any water, scrub under warm water and add lotion, then proceed with the soaking. My favorite thing to do after that is more lotion and a quick swipe of Neutrogena Instant Nail Enhancer (I got mine at walmart) and your done -clean, natural, and easy to maintain in the busy days ahead! Good Luck!
Use revlon nail tools and revlon colorstay nail polish. They're top ranking nail products. See this source for why. http://www.beautyqa.com/top3.php
